Netzeband A cultural anchor point of Brandenburg
Almost derelict after the fall of communism, an investor revived the small farming village of Netzeband in the 1990s. With him, the classicist village church from 1834 and many old farmhouses were restored to their former glory. Netzeband even became an Expo village in Brandenburg and a special place for artists. Every summer, the once overgrown estate park attracts hundreds of visitors. At the Theatre Summer, which has made Netzeband famous as far away as Berlin, amateur actors perform plays by Shakespeare, Brecht and other greats to professional voices on tape and in oversized masks. Away from the broad cultural programme, the former Mecklenburg enclave on the Temnitz offers exactly what stressed-out city dwellers appreciate: Netzeband has unspoilt nature, plenty of space for walks and peace and quiet to take a deep breath.
