The consecration of the church took place on September 20, 1862 by the General Superintendent of the Kurmark Brandenburg, Gottlieb Neander.
The structural damage that occurred at the beginning of the 20th century made extensive restorations necessary. In 1921, the exterior masonry, the interior plaster, all the color finishes and the tower helmet were renewed.
The structural damage, which occurred in the course of the following decades, was not repaired. The organ, destroyed in World War II, was removed.
In 1970 the last mass was held before the dilapidated condition of the building forced the closure of the church.
The demolition planned by the government of the German Democratic Republic was prevented by committed citizens. Thus it remained closed for about twenty years.
Only after the reunification of Germany and in view of the fact that Friedrich August Stüler was one of the most important builders of churches and advisor to Friedrich Wilhelm IV, the preservationists became aware and their interest paved the way to funding. On January 10, 1992, the church of Pinnow was included in the list of monuments of the state of Brandenburg.
The restoration of the tower, using both old and new bricks, could begin. This was followed by the repair of the roof. Furthermore, the outer wall of the tower, the tower helmet, the floor of the gallery and the stairs in the tower were renewed and the nave was secured. Despite the fact that the church was still being restored, the first service was held in the gallery on June 22, 1997. The pulpit figures could be newly cast in the still existing molds of the Koch pottery factory and installed for Christmas 2004. The restoration is being continued step by step.
During the summer months, a church service is held once a month, as well as constantly changing cultural programs, mainly classical concerts, exhibitions and readings.
Due to the proximity to the international bike path Berlin-Copenhagen, the church in Pinnow was consecrated as the first cyclist church in Brandenburg on May 1, 2005.
The cyclists' church is open from May to mid-September on weekends on Saturdays and Sundays from 14:00 to 17:00. Here also small repair works on the bike can be fixed. The necessary tools are available in the church.
