Children love to romp around to their hearts’ content – hopping, climbing and splashing all over the place: they can do all this and much more at Oranienburg Palace Park, the perfect destination to the north of Berlin for a great day out in the countryside with the whole family. The park has lots to offer the youngest visitors such as climbing rocks, bouncy cushions, trampolines, swings, slacklines and a playhouse. The highlight in the summer season is the diverse aquatic playground with mud track, various spray elements, an eight-metre-long climb-on whale and water-spewing volcanoes. Meanwhile, the grown-ups can make themselves comfortable on the lawn or in a lounger with a cup of coffee – relaxing while also keeping a careful eye on the youngsters.

But there’s a whole lot more to discover in the 30-hectare palace park apart from the playground: Baroque landscape art meets modern garden conservatories – recreation, cultural experience and the sheer enjoyment of nature all come together here. Take a walk amidst time-honoured trees, enjoy a game of boules, have a picnic on extensive meadows, sit in a lounger and read or play chess under the open sky – there are so many ways to relax and unwind.
Numerous festivals and concerts are held in the palace park, too. Summer highlights include the Picnic in White on the first Wednesday in July and Palace Park Night in August – complete with fabulous illuminations, music, show acts and a huge fireworks display.
