It's heavenly and beautiful here: The circular hiking trail around the Haussee lake in Himmelpfort, a district of the town of Fürstenberg/Havel, is characterised by beautiful nature, historical discoveries and fantastic lake views. In fact, the name of the small, natural lake of around 0.5 km² goes back to its proximity to Himmelpfort Monastery, the ruins of which can still be marvelled at along the way. Haussee is the lowest lake in the course of the Lychener Gewässer, a left tributary of the Upper Havel, and is part of the Uckermark Lakes Nature Park. The Haussee is connected to the larger Stolpsee by a lock.

Arrival/departure:

By car: A10 motorway (northern Berliner Ring) at the Oranienburg junction, then follow the B96 to Fürstenberg/Havel. In Fürstenberg take the K6515 to Himmelpfort as far as Zur Hasenheide 14.

Public transport: RE 5 (from Berlin main station or from Stralsund or Rostock) to Fürstenberg/Havel main station. From here to the bus station (1 min. walk) change to bus 839 in the direction of Bredereiche. The bus stops in Himmelpfort at Zur Hasenheide 14.

Route: Himmelpfort - around the Haussee - Himmelpfort

Route description:

The starting point of the hike is the Zur Hasenheide car park, right next to the Himmelpforter Chocolaterie. The trail is marked with a square with a yellow dot on a white background. We leave the car park in the direction of the road and turn right. The path leads through the village. At Santa's post office, we turn left opposite the monastery ruins and follow the path to the left around the lake. On the first third of the route, the path around the Haussee lake meets the Moderfitzsee lake. We cross the straw bridge that separates the Haussee and Moderfitzsee lakes. Shortly after the bridge, the hiking trails separate again. When you reach the end of the Haussee, the route follows the Berlin-Copenhagen cycle path for a while. We cross the Woblitz bridge and turn right after the bridge. The Woblitz connects the Haussee and the Großer Lychener See. The hiking trail turns right and the ground is once again soft forest soil. We follow this path and later reach the village of Himmelpfort again. From here you walk to the car park, the starting point of the activity.
