Justifiably the dome of the church St. Marien from 1806 attracts a lot of attention. The church was reopened in 2002 as a cultural centre and concert hall after a ten-years restoration period. On the other side of the church square is a bronze, life-size monument to master architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel. At the very same spot once was his birthhome. Unfortunatly it was destroyed by the town fire of 1787.
