Between 1902 and 1912, the number of tickets sold annually doubled to 350,000 in the suburban transportation sector, which was introduced in 1890, and to 140,000 in the long-distance sector. This significant increase in public transport led to the expansion of the railway and station facilities.

The first reception building, opened on July 10, 1877 with the northern line, was a building constructed mainly of red clinker bricks featuring a projecting gable roof and slate roofing. In keeping with the appearance of the school building opposite, a plaster building with historicising elements and a tiled roof was also chosen for the extension structures. It made sense to integrate the existing reception building into the new plaster building with a high tile-covered hipped roof. The structure of the old building with its central avant-corps and the pillar and window divisions was essentially retained. On the roof of the central avant-corps there is a dormer window which is elliptical in shape. Eyebrow dormers break up the roof area on the right and left.

Even today, a closer look reveals the successful architectural relationship between the station building, completed in 1914/15, and the school building.
