The family-run Pension Birkenhof is located opposite Birkenwerder railway station, with direct S-Bahn connections to Berlin and Oranienburg. The building was built in 1927 by the engineer Paul Heinrich, who opened a new restaurant there with his wife Luise (Grothe).
